Streets to Care is a scheme that aims to assist those who are on the road to recovery from the homeless journey and are interested in a career in care as a live-in Support Assistant.
People who are recruited would spend a period in temporary accommodation whilst they are trained in all aspects of care. They would then spend time working alongside a qualified and experienced care team. When the person has the necessary experience, and has proven reliability as well as all the appropriate qualities required, they would be ready to be introduced to clients who are seeking a live-in Support Assistant.
The person would be closely supervised especially during the early months. The person would have the opportunity to earn around £24,000 pa and have the benefit of free accommodation and food. As well as being a rewarding career this work would give the person the ability to save enough money to perhaps put a deposit on somewhere to buy or rent their own home within a few years.
HCP Social Enterprise is working with charities and other organisations on this project, in particular those who can assist with temporary accommodation, recruitment and jointly mentoring candidates through their journey.
