HCP Social Enterprise is a division of Home Care Preferred, a private Domiciliary Care Provider. Home Care Preferred has always been very active in the community and has taken a great interest in raising funds for several charities through a variety of events (particularly music based fundraisers).
In 2017 the social enterprise seed was sown during a business meeting that was attended by three people from Home Care Preferred that took place at a fellow social enterprise called Brigade Bar & Bistro. The restaurant operates a 6-month apprenticeship in The Brigade kitchen for people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness and this results in them gaining meaningful employment. Whilst in the restaurant, a newspaper clipping caught the eye of Home Care Preferred’s MD, Ken Waterhouse. The article headline read, ‘From the Street to The Savoy’ – documenting the success story of a Brigade apprentice.
Along with colleagues Navaniita Dhar and Laura Brassett, Ken has an interest in the homelessness issue, and Ken’s imagination was sparked: ‘From Streets to Care’ (our first social enterprise project) was born.
HCP Social Enterprise is implementing projects and raising funds and awareness for organisations that support people in our society. Any profits are either reinvested into HCP Social Enterprise and our projects or distributed to good causes, charities or in some cases individuals.
The longer-term aim is to expand existing projects as well as establishing an offering that addresses the growing need for corporates to upskill their employees and tackle Corporate Social Responsibility.
HCP Social Enterprise was formed in spring 2017 and is registered as a Social Enterprise.
